Our Diaspora Futures is a space of meeting, dreaming and collective care.

We work to nourish and strengthen the bodies, minds and souls of people of colour in the climate movement. We do this through events and workshops featuring music, art, dreaming, food, ancestral dialogue, and nature connection.

Our Diaspora Futures works with other collectives, with the intention to hold space led by people of colour, inclusive of disability, gender expression, class, citizenship, and sexual identity.

Since forming in December 2019, Our Diaspora Futures has hosted workshops at The Advocacy Academy and online, to facilitate exchange and dreaming between people of colour in this space. We have hosted two informal dinners, one post-COP26 and one in spring 2023, connecting with international activists. In summer 2023 we hosted our largest gathering at Hackney City Farm, in collaboration with multiple artists and intergenerational collectives. In February 2025 we hosted We Are Seeds, a fundraiser for land and food justice projects in Palestine and Sudan. We have worked with Madaniya, Seize The Vote, Kindred Dreaming, The Bonita Chola, Community Centred Knowledge and others.

Diaspora Climate Constellations Directory

We’re now launching the Diaspora Climate Constellations Directory. This is intended as a living archive of current and historical collectives and projects related to community-led climate and environmental justice. The directory aims to make the resources, learnings and connections of these projects available and easily accessible for BPOC in the UK, for us to connect, make our work visible, and reclaim space on our own terms. We hope to eventually build this directory into deeper justice-focused programmes, resource and knowledge sharing, events, and collaborations to build thriving futures.

We’re looking for entries from UK-based People of Colour-led collectives, organisations, and one-off projects focused on climate justice. By People of Colour (POC), we mean people of the Global Majority. This includes those who identify as Black, African, Asian, Brown, Arab, Indigenous, mixed-heritage, and those who are routinely racialised in the UK as “ethnic minorities”. We are only looking for collectives and projects where at least 2/3 of those leading or making decisions about the work are POC.

● We believe in the power of solidarity between UK diaspora communities and frontline communities globally.
